Processions

Annually there were festivities that combined local traditions and Catholic practices. These included processions: events that mixed cultural elements, clothing, and musical expressions. One of them was the Corpus Christi, which took place on the first Thursday after Pentecost.

This procession was led by the monstrance, covered, and accompanied by religious chants. Dancers played music with bagpipes, flutes, and drums. Women carried candles decorated with colorful flowers; next to them, incense-bearers walked. In the procession participated the prioste and his wife, who carried a cross wrapped in a red mantle. Fireworks closed the cortege.

Finally, procession returned to the church for final prayer, followed by dances in the plaza.
